Daily Journal has recognized Clarkson in its Top Appellate Reversals 2022 in California. Firm Partner and lead counsel Glenn Danas is recognized, along with Partners Ryan Clarkson, Yana Hart, and Senior Associate Lauren Anderson, for winning the reversal in Salazar v. Walmart.
Clarkson’s complaint alleges that Walmart falsely advertises that its white chocolate products contain actual chocolate. On September 15, 2022, the California Court of Appeals reversed the lower court’s decision and remanded the matter for further proceedings.
Danas is an appellate specialist who was named one of the top 100 attorneys in California (2017) and, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal, “continues to shape the law in some of the most consequential areas in California.” Danas remarks on this reversal, “We were able to direct the Court of Appeals in a way that brought it back to [the] first principles of consumer protection statutes and what sorts of policies they embody.”
