Named one of the “Top 100” trial lawyers in the country every year since 2019, Kaplan joins Clarkson as Partner to expand the firm’s East Coast consumer class actions and mass torts practices.

NEW YORK – Clarkson Law Firm, the prominent national public interest firm, welcomes Darren Kaplan as Partner to lead its New York-based team. Kaplan was previously the managing partner of Kaplan Gore LLP and brings decades of experience with consumer class actions and mass torts in the state and federal courts.

Bringing Kaplan to Clarkson is a demonstration of the firm’s confidence in its role as a national class action firm and its commitment to continue to litigate and win cases at the forefront of consumer rights. Kaplan’s work is widely recognized, and he has been selected as one of the “Top 100” trial lawyers in the country by the National Trial Lawyers every year since 2019.

“Darren’s not just a great trial lawyer and legal thinker,” said Ryan Clarkson, managing partner of Clarkson Law Firm. “His well-deserved reputation among the bench and bar for hard work, dedication, and fair play makes him a unique talent that seamlessly meshes with the firm’s long-standing commitment to use the law to empower everyday citizens and hold the powerful to account.”

Kaplan adds, “After working with many of the Clarkson attorneys over the years, it became obvious that, not only did we work well together, but we also understood our roles as plaintiffs’ lawyers as being more than just legal advocates. We are champions for the less powerful and are in this to make a difference.”

Prior to launching Kaplan Gore LLP, Darren ran the New York City office of Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP, one of the largest plaintiffs’ contingency firms in the Midwest. Before that, he was a partner at Chitwood Harley Harnes LLP, where he represented investors and consumers in class actions. In 2017, Kaplan led a team of lawyers who argued for federal appellate jurisdiction over voluntary dismissals of class actions following denial of class certification in the Supreme Court of the United States in Microsoft Corporation v. Baker, 15-457.

Kaplan arrives at Clarkson with a substantial, high impact docket of consumer class actions already in active litigation, including significant matters pending against major technology and consumer products companies in federal and state courts nationwide. He will continue to lead those cases as he builds out the firm’s New York practice.

As part of the firm’s East Coast growth, Kaplan will also work alongside Clarkson’s TogetherOn.AI initiative, which represents consumers harmed by the rapid and often reckless deployment of artificial intelligence across healthcare, technology, and other industries.
