MALIBU, CA – Clarkson Law Firm, the prominent California-based public interest firm leading major Artificial Intelligence litigation against major tech companies – including Google and Meta – announced today in a preliminary approval motion that they, alongside Co-Lead Counsel, have secured a $250 million settlement in a class action case against Apple.
The litigation alleged that Apple’s advertising campaign surrounding its new generation of iPhones promised to deliver an enhanced Siri personal digital assistant, allegedly misleading millions of consumers into purchasing its devices.
Clarkson was the first to bring suit on behalf of consumers in this matter. There has been no finding of liability and Apple denies that it did anything wrong.

This landmark settlement comes as big tech companies increasingly tout AI capabilities, and amid growing scrutiny by the California Attorney General and the FTC regarding AI claims in the marketplace.
Under the terms of the settlement, plaintiffs and class members who purchased all models of iPhone 16 and certain models of iPhone 15 between June 10, 2024 to March 29, 2025, may be eligible to submit a claim for monetary relief. The $250 million non-reversionary common fund will provide class members who timely submit approved claims with a presumptive per-device payment of $25 for each eligible device, which may decrease or increase up to $95 per device, depending on claim volume and other factors.
If approved, the settlement will provide meaningful, timely relief to tens of millions of consumers nationwide, and anticipates Apple providing AI features to consumers via a future software update at no additional cost.
