Burger King Worker Rights Investigation
The Issue
Burger King® Corporation and its franchisees allegedly agreed not to recruit or hire each other’s employees, resulting in suppressed wages for Burger King® restaurant workers nationwide.

What Happened
A pending class action lawsuit alleges that Burger King® and its franchisees engaged in illegal no-poaching agreements that prevented Burger King® restaurants from competing for each other’s workers and prevented workers from moving between Burger King® restaurants. The suit alleges that this anti-competitive practice artificially suppressed wages and limited opportunities for hardworking employees.

These agreements meant that if restaurant employees wanted to transfer to a different Burger King® location—perhaps one closer to home, with better hours, or better pay—they were blocked from doing so. The lawsuit alleges that this illegal conduct kept your wages lower than they should have been.
