Partner

San Francisco, CA

Arthur H. Bryant is a partner at Clarkson and head of the firm’s Title IX practice area. Twice named one of the “100 Most Influential Attorneys in America” by the National Law Journal, Arthur brings to Clarkson over 40 years of experience fighting for plaintiffs’ rights, having won major victories and established precedents in constitutional law, consumer protection, civil rights, workers’ rights, toxic torts, access to justice, class actions, and mass torts throughout his career.

Arthur is the former Chairman and Executive Director of Public Justice, a national public interest law firm, where he built the office from the ground up — from serving as its sole staff attorney in 1984, to being named Executive Director in 1987, and eventually Chairman in 2014.

Arthur is the nation’s leading Title IX attorney and is a trailblazer in the practice area, having served as lead trial counsel in the first Title IX case ever tried against a university for discriminating against its women athletes and potential athletes. His continued passion and advocacy has led him to successfully represent more athletes and potential athletes in Title IX litigation against schools and universities than any lawyer in the country. He was named a 2021 Sports Law Trailblazer by the National Law Journal.

In 2019, Arthur joined Bailey & Glasser, opening the firm’s first California office in Oakland, where, in addition to his Title IX work, he took on important cases like challenging Meta’s attempt to shield itself from liability for its role in deepfake scam ads.

Arthur is a graduate of Swarthmore College and Harvard Law School, where he was captain of the Ames Moot Court Championship Team — one of the nation’s most prestigious competitions for appellate brief writing and advocacy.

In his free time, Arthur loves being with his friends and family, enjoying the outdoors, reading, movies, theatre, music, dancing, comedy, good food of all kinds, and chocolate. He’s a big sports fan, especially of Oakland/SF and Philly teams, and thinks fighting for justice is the very best reason to be a lawyer.
